Friends of the Library
The Friends of the David and Joyce Milne Public Library is an organization that exists to encourage public support for the library in numerous ways: 

• by encouraging volunteer participation in the work and programs of the library
• by encouraging gifts to the library
• by raising money through book sales, membership campaigns, and other fund-raising events
• by sponsoring lectures and discussions of interest to various segments of the community

The Biblio*File, a newsletter prepared and published semiannually by the Friends, informs the community of library news, policies, and events. As stipulated by the organization's by-laws, the Friends are governed by a twelve-member executive board, including five officers and seven members at large. Ideas for programming and offers to help with fund-raising events are always welcome.

The services of the David and Joyce Milne Public Library are complemented by the contributions of many volunteers who give generously of their time to help the library. Most volunteers commit to between 2 or 4 hours a week.  Volunteers assist in a variety of support activities including shelving books, putting the books in order on the shelves, cataloging online, processing new books, mending the old books, children’s story times, sending out overdue notices, and various other special projects.
